Can I view rental properties in person?
Yes. Vacant extended rental properties are available for viewing prior to signing a lease. To tour a vacant extended rental, stop by the Oak Island Accommodations office to pick up a key. You will need your photo id.
Do you offer pet-friendly rentals?
Yes. Oak Island Accommodations offers a number of extended rentals that welcome pets with prior approval from Oak Island Accommodations. An additional pet fee is required.
Is there an application process?
Yes, an application and credit check are required to rent an extended rental through Oak Island Accommodations. OIA charges a $40.00 fee to run your credit report and national background reports. On occasion, additional reports may be required. You are responsible for any additional costs associated with these reports. Copies of these reports are available upon request.
Do you require a security deposit?
Yes. OIA’s extended rentals require a security deposit, generally equal to one month’s rent.
What documents and fees are required?
In addition to a security deposit, the first month’s rent and any applicable pet fees are due before you move into your extended rental. The first month’s rent will be prorated for tenants whose rental period begins after the 1st of the month. In addition, you must provide documentation from the proper authorities showing that all utilities (water, sewer where applicable and electricity) for the extended rental are in your name. (some authority fees may apply).
Would not having good credit affect my chance of renting?
- You may be asked to provide an additional security deposit that may equal up to 2 month’s rent.
- You may be asked to provide a co-signer for your lease who would also have to fill out a credit check form.
- You may be required to provide information in addition to the questions on the application.
When is rent due?
Rent payments are due the 1st of each month. Payments made after the 5th of each month are subject to late fee’s.
