OIA understands the amount of planning and savings that goes into a vacation. That's why we recommend purchasing Sun Trip Preserver travel insurance from Red Sky, so you can plan for the unexpected. Whether it's an illness, a weather event, lost baggage or canceled flights that prevents travel or interrupts your vacation, Sun Trip Preserver covers a wide range of events to help keep your vacation dreams alive.

This affordable plan covers a variety of issues that could impact your vacation should unforeseen circumstances occur including mandatory evacuation due to a hurricane; road closures; sickness; injury or death of you or a family member, business partner, or traveling companion; the insured's principal residence being made uninhabitable by fire, flood, vandalism, or burglary; involuntary termination of employment, military duty; and much more. You can view the full description of coverage here.

You can add travel insurance to your reservation at the time of booking or by calling our office up to 30 days prior to your arrival date.

Note: Hurricane season runs from June 1st to November 30th each year. Historically, our coast is susceptible to storms due to our unique location. We highly recommend coverage, especially if your stay occurs during hurricane season.

If you do not purchase travel insurance and must cancel your reservation, then there will be no refund of payment until the canceled period is fully re-rented and you will be responsible for any discounts extended to re-rent the property. If you do not have travel insurance coverage and the property does not re-rent for the entirety of your stay dates, then no refund will be issued.

Damage Protection Insurance

Accidents Happen, But They Don’t Have to Ruin a Vacation

Oak Island Accommodations is happy to offer damage protection insurance to our guests. This program offers you $1,500 in protection for accidental damage. Kids broke a lamp? Cracked a glass table? No Problem!

The cost of damage protection insurance is due with the first payment. You do not have to purchase damage protection insurance, however, if you opt out Oak Island Accommodations will require a security deposit on all reservations.

The cost of the security deposit is $1,000. For guests that elect the security deposit, this deposit may be paid using either a personal check, certified funds or a money order that reaches the OIA office at least 30 days prior to your arrival date. Following OIA’s standard security deposit schedule, deposits for reservations where no property damage was sustained are returned within 45 days of departure.
