Tropical Storm Warning and Flash Flooding Watch Ahead of Michael

TROPICAL STORM WARNING AND FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR BRUNSWICK COUNTY

10/10/18 at 5:00 p.m.

A tropical storm warning is now in effect for Brunswick County as Hurricane Michael moves towards our area after making landfall this afternoon along the Florida Panhandle. The Towns of Caswell Beach and Oak Island have not issued any evacuation orders as of this posting. The City of Southport has issued a voluntary evacuation order.

The latest weather briefing from the National Weather Service states that our area is likely to see tropical storm force winds Thursday. Our area is expected to see between 2 to 5 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts possible. A flash flood watch is also in effect. The highest risk for storm surge is Thursday with each high tide. Tornadoes are possible as well, especially Thursday.
