10/6/16 Update – Hurricane Matthew

UPDATE 10/6/16 at 10:35 a.m.: The Town of Caswell Beach and the Town of Oak Island have now issued mandatory evacuations for all non-residents beginning at noon today. Guests should remove their personal belongings from the vacation rental and empty the refrigerator of perishables. All keys must be returned to the Oak Island Accommodations office prior to departure. All guests who are scheduled to check into a vacation rental today through Sunday will not be able to check in until the towns lift the mandatory evacuation orders and OIA staff members have completed inspections of all vacation rentals for damages after Hurricane Matthew has left our area.

We will post updates on when the evacuation has been lifted and when guests may check into properties on our homepage and on our Facebook page as soon as we have more information. We do not anticipate that the evacuation orders will be lifted before 10/9/16.

When will a decision be made if homes that are part of the hurricane program will be boarded up? Thanks

Hi Julie! If you wish to have your vacation rental boarded before the arrival of Hurricane Matthew I would recommend calling the maintenance department at 800.243.8132 immediately with your request. We only board properties if forecasts predict a category 3 storm or higher if time and conditions allow (that window will close quickly tomorrow). We do however make exceptions when an owner specifically requests the boarding even if forecasts predict a category 2 or lower.

      Hi Debra!
A member of our guest services staff will be contacting you by phone today to discuss your options. There is a possibility you could get into your rental on Monday, but this will depend on how quickly the storm moves through and home inspections can be safely completed, and what day the town lifts the mandatory evacuation orders.
