Ready for some Oak Island Entertainment? There’s plenty to do in all seasons on this stretch of the North Carolina coastline. If you are in Brunswick County during the 4th of July holiday, you will enjoy the North Carolina 4th of July Festival in Southport and Oak Island. This celebration attracts about 500,000 visitors each year because of this old-fashioned family celebration. There is a parade featuring a variety of floats, bands, clowns and horses. There are firemen’s games that are enjoyed by many, as well as vendors selling arts, crafts and food. There is also a naturalization ceremony that names people of various nationalities as citizens of the United States. To finish the holiday, you will enjoy the fireworks display over the water.
Held in Wilmington in April, the North Carolina Azalea Festival attracts more than 300,000 visitors from both the United States and Canada each year. The celebration takes place from Thursday to Sunday and has a variety of events throughout the Wilmington area. Musical and theatrical performances, a circus, garden and home tours, and blooming azaleas make this festival one that is loved by all who attend. The Azalea Festival garden tour takes place from Friday to Sunday during the Festival, and home tours are held Saturday and Sunday. Both the garden and home tours have small fees, with proceeds benefiting the Azalea Festival and the Garden Club.
The Carolina Opry is one of the most popular tourist attractions of South Carolina, and is located in Myrtle Beach, which is just 20 minutes from Oak Island Entertainment and the beaches of Brunswick County. The Carolina Opry shows offer both comedy and music, and styles of music range from bluegrass and country to gospel and oldies. There is also a special Christmas concert that is performed during the holiday season. Because of the show’s popularity, you will want to call ahead to reserve your tickets.
Good Vibrations showcases music from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
