What time is check-in?

Check-In begins at 3:00 pm, all check-ins are subject to release by the housekeeping department. Some rentals may become available prior to 3:00pm, if you wish to check the status of your rental, you may do so from your iphone or ipad. Just visit OIAbout.com and click on “Guests”. Enter your reservation number and zip code to see if your rental is available. You may also enter your cell phone number to receive a message when your property is ready for check-in.

Is there internet access?

What is the layout of my property?

Each rental is individual and we try to provide as much information to you the guest. All properties include photo captains with locations and some properties include Room Descriptions. Please see the specific property information for more details.

Where is the beach access?

There are approximately 40 public beach accesses throughout the island. For a specific list please see the “Beach Times” magazine.

Is maid service included?

All nightly and weekly rentals include departure maid service, so you don’t have to clean when you leave. Mid-week maid service is available for an additional charge.

Is linen service included?

All weekly rentals include linens on arrival. Sheets, bath towels and kitchen towels should be in the rental upon your arrival and most beds will be made.  If you are renting less than 7 days please contact one of our Guest Service Representatives to add this to your reservation for an additional charge.

What is GuestWeb™?

GuestWeb™ allows you to login to your secure reservation information. You may e-sign your rental agreement and make a payment by credit card through our secure connection. You will need your reservation number and zip code to access.

Is there Handicap Access?

Some rentals are partially handicap accessible. Please see the specific rental descriptions for more information.

Can I receive mail at the property?

Please have all packages and/or mail delivered to our main office at 8901 E. Oak Island Drive, Oak Island, NC 28465.

Pool and/or Hot Tub Access?

All of our condo complex’s have access to a seasonal community pool and/or hot tub. Please see the specific property details for more information or click the links below.

Some properties have a seasonal private pool and/or hot tub and may be heated in the Spring & Fall.  Please see the specific property details for more information.

At this time Oak Island, NC does not have a public pool in the area.

Can I stay less than a week?

Some properties offer nightly rentals for stays of 2 nights or more. These properties may require a nightly minimum and only offer nightly rentals during the off-season. Please see the specific property details for more information.  During the off-season September to April you may book a nightly rental well in advance, during the peak summer season Memorial Day to Labor Day you may only book a nightly rental 2 weeks in advance. We also offer a select number of “Flex Rental” properties that allow nightly rentals anytime of the year. Please see our specials page for more information.

Departure maid service is not included with a monthly rental, but must be purchased before departure.

Is linen service included?

Linens are not included (sheets, bath towels or kitchen towels) but you may bring your own or rent them from us. Property does include Pillows, Blankets and/or Comforters.

Can I receive mail at the property?

Is there a security deposit?

For rentals of 30 days or less, you may opt for a refundable security deposit or purchase of the non-refundable Damage Deposit Insurance. For rentals of 30 days or more a refundable security deposit in the amount of one months rent will be required. All security deposits will be refunded within 45 days or less as long as no damages are reported.

Can I extend my rental?

If your property is available you may extend at the same rate received for stays of October through April. If your stay dates include our prime season of Memorial Day through Labor Day there will be an additional charge.

How do I make payments?

You will be required to pay your first months rent plus any additional fee’s at time of booking and each additional months rent due 30 days later.

Can I have a fire on the beach?

Oak Island allows bonfires on the beach with a permit. The permits are free and can be obtained from Town Hall. All rules must be followed and fire contained. Fires are not allowed from May 1 through Nov. 15 in order to prevent harm to our nesting sea turtles.

Can I get married on the beach?

Caswell Beach does not require a permit but you should contact the police department for traffic control arrangements and any other special requests.  Oak Island requests that you write to the town manager with details about your plans for written permission for a beach wedding.

Can I have tents on the beach?

Tents and/or canopies may be placed on the beach but all beach equipment must be removed from the beach on a daily basis. All personal items and/or beach equipment left overnight may be removed and disposed of by the town. Please keep all beach equipment at least 10ft from any sea turtle nest and 15 feet from emergency beach access points.

Are dogs allowed on the beach?

Caswell Beach:

  • Walking on or over sand dunes, sandbags or beach vegetation by persons or pets is prohibited.
  • Dogs must be on a leash –  Summer exception: Dawn – 9:00AM may be allowed off-leash on the beach only while under adult owner’s strict supervision and control.
  • You must carry and use plastic bags to scoop up after your pet.

Oak Island:

  • Dogs must be on a leash –  Exception October 15th to March 15th: 6AM – 9:00AM may be allowed off-leash on the beach only while under adult owner’s strict supervision and control.
  • You must carry and use plastic bags to scoop up after your pet.

Supervise your pet at all times to ensure they are not interfering with nesting birds, sea turtles or other wildlife that may be found on Oak Island Beaches.

Do I need a fishing license?

Persons engaged in recreational fishing in North Carolina coastal waters are required to possess a Coastal Recreational Fishing License in accordance with G.S. 113-174.2 Children under the age of 16  are not required to have a license, and every 4th of July has been declared a free fishing day, but you will still need to abide by recreational size and possession limits.  Most fishing charters provide a blanket license and you will not need to purchase this separately.
