Welcome!

Wilmington Children's Museum

Looking for a respite from the sun and sand, the Wilmington Children’s Museum is a wonderful hands-on museum for children of all ages. This museum features interactive play stations such as a Grocery Store, Pirate Ship, Medical Center, Dress up Center, Theatre, Water Play and a Weather Station.

There are a variety of exhibits at the museum. Enjoy the wonders of the sea at the Ahoy Wilmington Exhibit. This exhibit focuses on activities and stories related to the ocean and Cape Fear River. Located in the Junior League Buccaneer Atrium, the exhibit encourages role-playing, problem solving, building, navigating and more. The focal point is a large pirate ship where kids’ imaginations can soar! The ship’s cannon fires pretend oranges into an orange grove where visitors pick and carry them back to the pirate ship (for fighting scurvy). On a nearby island is a treasure cave hidden behind a “waterfall”, and a marsh where visitors can collect oysters.

There's also an Imagination Circus exhibit, Travelers' stories, Toddler room, Animal adventures and an international dinter where you can sample food from around the globe (tacos, spaghetti and sushi to name a few).
