The Bald Head Island Club's 18-hole championship golf course winds its way over dunes, around lagoons, along the ocean, and through a maratime forest. Designer George Cobb, who for 20 years was the lead consultant at Augusta National, left much of the terrain the way he found it, creating a course of unparalleled wild beauty. Awarded a coveted 4.5 stars from Golf Digest's Places to Play, the Bald Head Island Club Course has a slope rating of 139 and course rating of 74.3, putting it in the top 20% of courses in difficulty. Weekend warriors need not be discourged though. The Bald Head Island Club Crouse is known to play on several levels, and average golfers find it very playable from the forward tees. Fred Couples carved a ''coup de grace'' out of the Carolina coast. A 50/50 mix of L-93 and Crenshaw Bent grass, the contoured, well-mounted fairways are in superb condition and the landscaping is in comparable. (Slope/Rating - 104/63.4)

This 27-hole Tom Jackson Signature Course was the host of the 1998 & 1999 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournaments and recieved a 4 1/2-star rating in Golf Digest's places to play. At Magnolia Greens, you will be guaranteed to receive superb and friendely service from start to finish while playing on some of the most well manicured greens ever. Designed by Clyde Johnston and featuring 35-foot elevation changes, each hole seems to have been crafted by nature rather than by man. The three finishing holes are among the world's best. (Slope/Rating - 127/70.2)

The Locals refer to this course as ''Little Augusta'' because of its wide fairways and small, fast and firm greens. (Slope/Rating - 126/71.5)

This long-respected course offers spacious fairways and awesome par 5's. It is consistently rates as the friendliest course on the Grand Strand''. The Golf Academy at Possum Trot features the most complete training center in the area - driving range, 12,000 square foot putting green, practice bunker, indoor range and a seperate, short-game range. Shaftesbury Glen offers large, fast, elevated greens with A-1 Bent grass, wide fairways and magnificently sculpted traps. (Slope/Rating - 130/71.3)
