BiPlane Rides

Particularly during the summer months, a red open cockpit bi-plane can be seen flying overhead in Oak Island. Departing from the Brunswick County Airport, this 15 minute air time trip gives the passenger a spectacular view of the 14 mile Oak Island coast line. Two of North Carolina’s lighthouses can be seen from this ariel experience, the Oak Island Lighthouse and the Bald Head Lighthouse as the bi-plane circles Bald Head Island before returning. Battery Island, home to thousands of seagulls and historic Southport take on a different appearance from the skies.

This fixed-wing aircraft with two main wings offers a unique way to enjoy Oak Island. An alternate trip to the Lockwood Folly River is also available giving the passengers breath taking vistas of tidal estuary, moss covered hardwoods and stately pines. The river begins on the southeastern edge of the Green Swamp and flows south through lowland empting into the Atlantic Ocean through Lockwood Folly inlet near Holden Beach.

$120 for 15 minutes of air time
$30 for each additional 5 minutes of air time.
