OIA Hires Depencier To Lead Housekeeping Department

As with most industries, property management companies are continually evolving and elevating their practices by critically reviewing how they run their business and who is in charge of each process. In the past most property management companies had former cleaners or someone from within the ranks of the company manage their housekeeping departments. Many are now turning to professional managers to guide this critical service. The Vacation Rental Housekeeping Professionals Association (VRHP) is recommending that management companies raise the bar for their cleaning services by acquiring professional managers to lead their cleaning departments.

Following this recommendation, Oak Island Accommodations is pleased to announce that we have hired the services of Ross DePencier as the new director of housekeeping. Ross brings 26 years of management experience to the table as well as a fresh new approach to the many responsibilities of the housekeeping department.

DePencier spent the majority of his career in the athletic and country club side of the hospitality industry serving the needs of members from a range of demographics where cleanliness was always of paramount importance. His success as a manager arose from a systems approach to coaching employees. He used well defined roles, goals, and expectations as a manager at one of the finest private platinum county clubs in the United States.

In the hospitality world, whether it is a resort, cruise ship, country club or beach rental, clean facilities rank as the leading contributor to customer satisfaction. We all know the impact of a first impression. Whether guests travel 1,000 or 50 miles, they expect to find a clean property upon opening the door to a beach rental. Their vacation could start off on the wrong foot with a bad first impression.

With this in mind, OIA brought DePencier on board to elevate our performance and develop a highly professional approach to property care, cleaning, and presentation. He is already reviewing, redesigning, and re-launching our housekeeping practices and is coordinating the retraining of our housekeeping personnel into an efficient, highly effective and professional team.
