Pirates on Bald Head Island

Old Baldy Lighthouse will celebrate National Lighthouse Day with a pirate festival starting July 31, - August 2, 2009. The event will begin Friday on the lighthouse grounds at 1 p.m. with pirate camp, and climbing the lighthouse. There is even a 24 hour Island-Wide Treasure Hunt, starting Friday 3 p.m. (pre registration required). The pirates will invade Bald Head Island at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, this is a free event held at West Beach access #1 at Turk's Head Court and access #2 at Row Boat Court. More...

Turtle Nesting Season

Turtle Nesting Season began on May 1st. The first nest of the season was laid on May 21, and is expected to begin hatching sometime after July 20 (incubation period is between 50 and 85 days). Approximately 30 nests have been sighted so far this year. Nesting season will continue through mid August. More...
