LATEST OAK ISLAND NEWS

Thursday, October 04, 2007- Energetic, bright, well-spoken, and clearly committed to the well-being of Brunswick County, Sherri Marshall is running for Board Member at the J. Arthur Dosher Memorial Hospital. This is a non-compensated, 6-year commitment, and she feels strongly that she wants to help Dosher Hospital continue to serve the community in the 21st century.

A business owner living and raising a family on Oak Island since 1990, Sherri has made a positive difference to this community herself, not only by means of her business activities, but also through her many volunteer and personal endeavors. Sherri began her involvement with Dosher Hospital with informal participation as a private citizen, during the illness of her husband Dick Marshall. While there witnessing first hand what so many have seen through the years (the professionalism, care, and dedication of each person), she recognized the hospital’s importance in the future of our coastal region and began to find ways to repay the care and concern for her husband. During the past several years, she has become even more involved with Dosher, working with its administrators as a member of its Strategic Planning Committee. Currently, she is in her second year as a volunteer there, engaged personally in the day-to-day work that makes the hospital so effective for its surrounding community.

Yet, as an area business leader through her company Oak Island Accommodations, Sherri’s support to the entire community extends far beyond any single dimension to include both business and humanitarian endeavors. She has served as Chair on the Board of Oak Island Adjustments, held membership on the Oak Island ABC Board, and contributed to the First Citizens’ Bank of Southport as Bank Director, to name only a few aspects. Some of her most recent awards include personal recognition from Hope Harbour Home through its Distinguished Woman’s Award, also her company’s recognition from the Southport/Oak Island Chamber of Commerce through its Customer Service of the Year Award for 2007.

Elections for the Dosher Hospital Board are scheduled to take place in early November. Anyone residing in the Smithville Township is eligible to vote in this election, and we hope to see you at the polls. Please cast your vote for Sherri Marshall as Dosher Hospital's Board of Trustees.
