Old Baldy Lighthouse will celebrate National Lighthouse Day with a pirate festival starting July 31, – August 2, 2009. The event will begin Friday on the lighthouse grounds at 1 p.m. with pirate camp, and climbing the lighthouse. There is even a 24 hour Island-Wide Treasure Hunt, starting Friday 3 p.m. (pre registration required). The pirates will invade Bald Head Island at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, this is a free event held at West Beach access #1 at Turk’s Head Court and access #2 at Row Boat Court.
Friday night at the Harbour Pavilion tent at the Bald Head Island Marina, you can dine with the pirates, bid on treasures at the Booty Auctions and Dance jigs to the Rusty Cutlass Band. Saturday is National Lighthouse day at Old Baldy, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with activities for all ages, food, music, pirate skits and presentations. Sunday, have breakfast at the Pirates and Pancakes at the Bald Head Island Club, where a lavish, breakfast buffet with all the trimmings will be served, along with the Rusty Cutlass Band.
